At Coorparoo Aged Care, community engagement is at the heart of everything we do. March has been a wonderful reflection of the meaningful connections, shared moments, and vibrant spirit that make our home so special. From heartfelt celebrations to shared meals and everyday acts of care, each moment brings us closer together.
We began the month by celebrating Jenny’s Birthday Celebration, where residents gathered following the morning exercise class to wish Jenny a very happy birthday. It was a simple yet joyful moment, filled with warmth and genuine connection—just the way celebrations should be.
Our rooftop came alive during the St Patrick’s Day Rooftop Fish & Chips, where residents enjoyed cool drinks, Irish music, and a relaxed atmosphere with a view to match. It was a lively and engaging afternoon, offering not just great food but an opportunity to share stories, laughter, and a sense of togetherness.
A truly remarkable milestone was honoured during Kath’s 104th Birthday Celebration. Surrounded by her closest family and friends, Kath marked her special day on the rooftop with a beautiful spread. It was a meaningful gathering that reflected both a life well lived and the importance of connection across generations.
We also celebrated Daisy’s Birthday Gathering, where she spent the morning participating in activities with friends before being surprised by a group birthday singalong. These shared experiences highlight how community engagement creates moments that feel both personal and collective.
March also introduced new shared experiences, including our First Buffet Breakfast on Level 5. Residents enjoyed being served from a generous spread prepared by Chef Karl and his team, creating a welcoming and social dining experience that encouraged conversation and connection.
Food continues to be a powerful way to bring people together, and this was evident during our Greek Resident Choice Dinner. With plenty of compliments from residents, the evening was a celebration of culture, flavour, and shared enjoyment around the table.
Beyond events and celebrations, it’s often the quieter moments that define a strong community. Whether attending daily activities with friends or contributing to shared spaces, these moments matter. A lovely example is Residents’ Succulent Care with Sendy, where thoughtful attention ensures our greenery thrives—just like our community.
At Coorparoo Aged Care, community engagement isn’t limited to special occasions. It’s found in everyday interactions, shared laughter, and the genuine care residents and staff show one another. March has been a beautiful reminder that connection is what truly makes a place feel like home.
