May 2026: connection, community, and celebration at Coorparoo Aged Care

May 2026 was a warm and meaningful month at Coorparoo Aged Care, filled with the kinds of moments that remind us how much this community means to all of us.

Our activity calendar kept us busy and engaged throughout the month. Morning exercise continued to draw a wonderful crowd — it is one of those sessions that sets the tone for the whole day. Games afternoons brought out the competitive spirit in all of us, with Ping Pong, Connect 4, and Dice Games generating plenty of laughter and some genuinely fierce rivalry.

Armchair Travel was, as always, a highlight. This month we set our sights on Spain, exploring the country from the comfort of home and sparking some wonderful conversations about travel, culture, and memory. We are already looking forward to deciding where we head next.

We also enjoyed a lunch outing during the month. When our usual venue could not accommodate us, we made our way to the Fish and Chips shop across the way, which turned out to be a delicious alternative and a lovely change of scenery.

One of the most meaningful occasions in May was our church service led by Reverend Catherine from St Stephen’s Anglican Church, with Lyn from the Village assisting on the day. For many of our residents, these services provide something that goes beyond the hour itself — a sense of fellowship, peace, and spiritual grounding that stays with you. We are truly grateful for the care and warmth that Reverend Catherine and Lyn bring to our community.

The month closed with a very special celebration. Our dear Doreen turned 98 years old, and we marked the milestone in style — first over the weekend, and then again with family, friends, and the Coorparoo Aged Care community gathered to celebrate her. Doreen, you are an absolute joy and an inspiration to everyone around you. Happy 98th birthday.
